Lodge 441 Providence Lodge

Providence Lodge was opened in 1878, and is the original Lodge of Margate.  It’s first home was “Fort Restaurant” in Margate.

Over the years they have moved around Margate , locations include the “Imperial Hotel” (the manage was Druid), and also “Love Lane Hotel” until making their permanent home at “Unity House”.

The first noble Archdruid was Brother J P Ryan, a local businessman or hotelier (details are brief).

During the boom years that saw Margate as a major holiday destination most of the brothers would have been local hoteliers and shopkeepers. Alas, those days are gone forever.

The Lodge meets every Tuesday  evening at Unity House, and they regularly hold social evenings to help raise funds for many local charities.
